Guitarist here   afro .
Just imagining that probably the Marshall cabinet would sound better than the old Sunn 4x12 .  I think probably the Old Sunn 4x12 Alnico 60 watt Sunn speakers is a great cabinet, but is too deep, and doesnt provide for the SPL's the shallower marshall 4x12 develops? I've got a few Marshall 4x12's, and One Sunn 4x12 with the 60 watt speakers which need reconing( sorry, too broke to do it now).
Now the Sunn 60 watt Alnicos in a Marshall 4x12? Hmmmm??  evil

Are you refering to the OLD Sunn 4x12; the 40" tall X 24" wide X 15" deep one, or the later square cabinet?

Well, Mine is an older cabinet, but its a square one, not the 40X24X15.  Its considerably deeper than a Marshall.

I've got a 412L from the mid 70's, and it's insanely deep.  That being said, it still sounds better than most Marshall cabinets I've played through, but it's really apples and oranges, since most Marshall players want a particular sound(as do Sunn players) that you aren't going to get from the other.
